Believe it or not, because the dentist is an artist (in the true meaning of ‘artist’) who brought his whole self to the procedure, and because I had prepared emotionally and spiritually and used energy healing techniques throughout the surgery, it was about as positive an experience as 2 hours of dental work could possibly be! I had almost no swelling after the procedure, or in the days that followed.
What I did experience, 3 days post-op was a lot of pain. Now here’s where things get even more interesting. I have a different approach to pain than most. I am not afraid of it, I see it as a messaging system between my body and my mind. So whenever pain shows up, I don’t seek to suppress it, mask it, or get it to go away. I seek to move into the pain and discern the message.
Well, there were a number of messages this post-implant dental pain had for me, but the one I want to focus on now is a message my body has been giving me for years; but which I’ve been unwilling to heed.
This message was: “We need you to stop eating sugar. We cannot go through this continual wounding and trauma anymore. Yes, the procedure went very well, as well as it could have gone. But it is still trauma and wounding to our cells, tissue, bone, that we then have to heal. You need to stop. Or you will lose most of your teeth.”
I have quit sugar (and I mean ALL sugar) many times in my life – for up to a year at a time. I do know that sugar (even very small amounts) affects my teeth instantly. I once did an experiment where I had 3 places in my mouth with active tooth decay; I quit all sugar, used Bone Support, MI Paste, PerioBrite Mouthwash, a Phillips Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush, Natural Dentist Fluoride toothpaste, Glide Pro-Health dental floss, and an oral irrigator that attached to my shower. By 3 weeks my dentist confirmed that all 3 patches of tooth decay were healed.
In spite of such compelling evidence, and a family history of diabetes (and some cancer), I still returned to sugar. And I continued to experience tooth decay.
With this surgery, and losing my second tooth, I guess my body decided to ramp up the call to healing by giving me 24/7 pain until I listened! Although I began a protocol to address infection (one of the usual causes of pain after dental implant) I also did an intensive Tapping (EFT) session to get to the roots of my sugar addiction!

If you’re not familiar with EFT Tapping, you need to know that part of the process involves venting, and voicing out loud all the negative crap that may be carried in your subconscious, or past experiences, or beliefs absorbed from your parents without conscious awareness (often before the age of 6).
So even though it may feel like we are focusing on the negative and you probably don’t want to dwell on that, it is an important part of the process for unlocking these limiting concepts and moving them into flow; so they can be transformed into life affirming, positive beliefs and feelings that make your world bigger.

I hope this series of tapping videos sets you free the same way it worked for me! I cannot believe the difference… I look at chocolate and I feel, “Meh” I am not having to deny myself. When I feel the need for that “something, something…” I feel into my body and usually have some fruit, or some nut butter with fruit-only jam. Occasionally I will want a hot chocolate – made with straight cocoa powder, coconut cream powder, hot water, stevia, and a touch of xylitol. Previously, this would not have satisfied me! But now, it’s a real treat.
The big difference between quitting sugar all my previous times and this time, is the disappearance of the strong desire for chocolate or desserts. Will power has never been an issue for me – my self-discipline is a well-exercised muscle. But before the tapping, it was only that self-discipline that kept me from eating chocolate. Now, amazingly enough, there are many times that I just don’t want chocolate – I can hardly believe I’m even saying that!! But there it is.
For the times I do want chocolate, I am not perfectly content with sugar-free chocolate items, like my Chocolate Cashew Butter Fudge (also dairy-free and gluten-free) or the hot chocolate I outlined above.
