Listening to Your Gut Can Help You Heal
Living with chronic gut issues like Crohn’s, IBS, or SIBO can make you feel like your body is working against you. But what if your body is actually trying to help you if only you knew how to listen?
Before we dive in, you might want to watch this short video where I share what it actually looks like to listen to your gut in everyday life and how your body is always speaking to you if you know how to pay attention.
What This Has to Do With Gut Health
If you’re living with gut issues, your body is already talking to you. It’s saying, “Hey, something’s not right.”
But if you’ve spent years ignoring or overriding your gut signals, eating what you’re told is “healthy,” pushing through pain, or relying only on test results, you might have lost that connection.
Rebuilding starts with awareness.
By practicing this kind of body listening:
- You begin to rebuild trust with your body.
- You notice what feels good (and what doesn’t).
- You start making choices from inside, not from fear or rules.
That’s how true healing begins.
Use Your Imagination As a Tool
Imagination is not “just in your head.” It’s a way to test new possibilities. When you give your imagination space, you allow new awareness to emerge.
For example:
- “What if this path is better for me today?”
- “What if my body wants water right now, not a snack?”
- “What if this discomfort is trying to tell me something?”
Play with these ideas. Let your inner voice speak. Give it permission, even if it feels weird at first.
Simple Ways to Start Listening
You don’t need a retreat or a special meditation app to begin. Just try this:
- Take a walk. Anywhere—your neighborhood, a park, the woods.
- Turn off distractions. No podcasts, no calls. Just you and the world around you.
- Ask your body, “Where do you want to go?” Then follow.
- Notice what catches your attention. Stay open. Stay curious.
- Let yourself “make things up.” That’s where the magic lives.
You can do this in 10 minutes a day. No pressure. No agenda. Just presence.
Why Listening to Your Gut Matters
Healing isn’t just about supplements and food (though those matter too). It’s really about the relationship between you and your body.
When you start to listen to your gut, you stop fighting your symptoms. You start hearing the messages.
And that’s when real change becomes possible.
