Hi! Savannah from LTYG Shoppe, and today I want to talk to you about MucosaCalm. This is a product Jini formulated which contains the ingredients that she feels are the best healers for the intestinal wall and mucosal lining – and highly likely to be well tolerated. If you’re having 3 or more bowel movements per day, then make sure you open the capsules and mix them in water (or diluted apple juice), and drink on an empty stomach (20 minutes before food, or 2 hours after food).
This product is the same formula as MucosaHeal, but with a new name! The NAG was changed to a vegan source to remove the shellfish allergen and wildcrafted ingredients were added.
Although it must be taken on an empty stomach, MucosaCalm can be combined (taken at the same time) with certain other supplements like George’s Aloe Vera Juice, NAG, L-Glutamine, etc. that also need to be taken on an empty stomach AND are being taken for the same purpose (to heal the gut lining). But, MucosaCalm cannot be taken together with probiotics.
You also would not want to take it together with any substance that has a bowel clearing or detox effect, as you want MucosaCalm to stay in contact with your intestinal lining, not be flushed out.
People with inflammatory bowel disease suffer from a damaged glycosaminoglycan layer (mucosal lining), and their intestinal tract is often riddled with ulcers, fissures, inflamed patches, and sometimes fistulas. MucosaCalm provides excellent demulcent and mucilage activity for the gastrointestinal tract and mucosal lining, thanks to the following ingredients:*
Ingredients Per 3 Capsules:
N-Acetyl Glucosamine – 600 mg
Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root Extract 4:1
Wildcrafted Slippery Elm Bark
Wildcrafted Marshmallow Root
Other ingredients: Vegetable capsule (hypromellose and water)
This product is 100% natural. No artificial ingredients or preservatives. Does not contain wheat, yeast, soy, milk, lactose, or sugar. Certified gluten-free (less than 20 ppm). The N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) in this product is vegan.
SUGGESTED USE: The use of MucosaCalm should vary according to the severity of symptoms you’re experiencing. Many natural health professionals classify severe symptoms as those including intestinal bleeding and severe inflammation. Moderate symptoms are classed as those including minimal or sporadic intestinal bleeding and moderate inflammation.
MucosaCalm must always be taken on an empty stomach (1/2 hour before meals, or 2 hours after). If you can’t swallow pills, you can empty the contents of the capsules into the water, or a non-acidic juice like apple or pear, mix well and drink on an empty stomach.
To help with severe symptoms: Take 2 capsules on an empty stomach, 3 times a day. Then take 3 capsules on an empty stomach right before bed. Ideally, empty your bowels before taking the 3 capsules at night.
To help with moderate symptoms: Take 1 capsule 3 times per day, on an empty stomach. Then take 3 capsules on an empty stomach right before bed. Ideally, empty your bowels before taking the 3 capsules at night.
Maintenance: Once your major symptoms concerns have been resolved, or if your symptoms are mild to begin with, take 3 capsules before bed, on an empty stomach. Ideally, empty your bowels first.

Can you give this to children? My 5 year daughter has eczema and some food allergens. I wanted to try and heal her gut.
Hi Renee!
Yes, our Listen To Your Gut FAQ page does say MC is safe for kids.

My 13 year old daughter is having her 1st Crohn’s flare. Can she take Mucosa Calm with the elemental shakes?
Hi Cass!
These are intended to take on an empty stomach (20 minutes before food, or 2 hours after food). Taking the capsules at bed are also a great option, with empty bowels.
Here is a great breakdown of the recommended dosages that you may find helpful: https://shoppe.listentoyourgut.com/imix-nutrition-mucosacalm-90-capsules/

Thank you! She took one capsule last night and had diarrhea, no pain, this morning. Is this normal?
Hi Cass – you can try emptying only half of the contents into some diluted apple juice or spring water to see if she still reacts with diarrhea. Starting with a lower dosage/smaller amounts can help the body acclimate – but no pain is great! I hope this helps! 🙂
Ok thanks ! Is there normally an adjustment period they may cause diarrhea? Or possibly the supplement isn’t right for her?
Hi Cass – there is usually an adjustment period when introducing any new supplement, but if she finds she is still experiencing an increase in bowel movements she may have an intolerance to one of the ingredients. Here is a blog post Jini wrote on this which may help: https://blog.listentoyourgut.com/issues-with-mucosacalm/
I am taking 3 mucosa calm at night before bed. I am also taking Natren Trinity capsule at night. The Natren directions say to take at least two hours after herbs. There are herbs in the mucosa calm, but I am assuming they do not kill the probiotics because Jini recommends to take each of these supplements at bedtime. Would you take the mucosa calm and probiotics at bedtime? Also, would you take some George’s aloe Vera juice at bedtime too? Please let me know. Thank you,
Deb Valeri
Hi Deb! Here is a great post by Jini on supplement schedules: https://blog.listentoyourgut.com/before-after-examples-of-supplement-schedules/ She recommends taking probiotics 1 hour or 2 away from Mucosacalm and gives examples of schedules. Hope this helps! Linsy
