Healing In LayersToday I want to talk to you about healing in layers. Now you may be wondering what this actually means – take a walk with me as I explain what happened to me when I was healing my severe Ulcerative Colitis.

Healing my UC

When my natural healing journey began I was so laser-focused on ONE issue: my Ulcerative Colitis, which was in the lower part of my colon.

At that time, I thought that was the ONLY problem in my body. Little did I know, as I took each leap of faith in every step and level of healing, that I would be shedding a layer of something else.

As more symptoms and issues arose, I learned that the whole body is connected! Every cell and tissue! I knew this to some degree, but when I actually experienced it, I got the message loud and clear! Don’t just treat symptoms! Treat the entire BODY for deep and lasting healing.

I’ll give you an example:

When my ulcerative colitis was finally responding to my natural efforts, and the bleeding and mucus were gone, I was so happy! But I had built a stigma in my own mind that once this was gone, I was healed and I would never have stomach issues again. And, in turn, I would be a happy person again.

I, unfortunately, found out the hard way this was not the case. I had just barely begun my journey, and I didn’t even know it.

Peeling An Onion

Just as the Ulcerative Colitis was subsiding, now to my surprise I had SIBO. This freaked me out because I had heard of others with this who had never found relief. Not only that, but I had no idea what to do with SIBO as I had never experienced it before.

This entire situation lead me to realize that the toxins and viruses I had were systematic. All of my body was affected, not just the lower colon like I’d originally thought. So, I refined my treatments and targets to focus on treating the entire body: physically and emotionally

peeling an onionI like to think of it as peeling an onion – each layer you peel, you get deeper and deeper into the root issuesBut here’s the part that most people misunderstand: when you peel a layer off of an onion, the scent becomes more potent. This is the same with healing our bodies! When we heal and peel layers to get to the actual root cause, most people will experience more symptoms emerge as things get stirred up. So at first, it may be uncomfortable removing a layer. There may be discomfort in physical symptoms, or emotionally.

This is where many people stop in their journey. They freak out (like I did when I heard I got SIBO, although the next day I was over the “shock” LOL), and since their symptoms are getting worse, they stop all natural healing efforts!

This is why I wanted to bring this to your attention because so many readers write in – “I did all the protocols and I’m still sick, or WORSE.” Now, I certainly am no replacement for your doctor, but I just want you to see how that has happened to ALL of us!

Healing is a Journey

We have all been through those days where you feel like throwing in the towel. I had days where I second-guessed what I was doing in choosing natural medicine because my symptoms were crazy intense again! So what do you do when this happens?

A number of things can help, but to stay on topic remember this is a JOURNEY. Journeys have hills and bumps and mountains and flat terrain – and all in between. Take practical and emotional measures, of course, and consult your doctors, but also remember this:

The road to disease was slow and progressive, so your health will take different turns – as I’m sure it did in getting IBD in the first place!

It’s almost guaranteed that when you start implementing Jini’s protocols and natural healing there will be some “kickback” from your body, so you can remind yourself that it’s normal. Whether it’s with good intention or not, we are changing that microbiome! So when you disrupt the flora, you most likely will experience something.

When this happens and you become discouraged, what helps you stay the course and stay motivated? For me, it was self-reflection and asking myself – “How badly do I want to heal?”

My body would respond with an alarming – “Yes we want it badly.”

And I could continue the course.

Keep Your Goal In Mind

Another helpful thing is keeping your goal in mind. They say most runners stay laser-focused on their goal without distractions, which fuels them to win. They “see” the finish line. When you experience symptoms from trying to heal the root cause of your issues, why not picture your goal?

Where do you see yourself?
What are you doing?
What does it feel like?

As you do, it can fuel a fire within to push through.

goalNow my body healed from bottom to top. Again, as I healed each part symptoms arose that showed me where further imbalance was in the body. So all in all my journey went from issues with my lower colon, to my small intestines, to my stomach, to my esophagus, then to my lungs, and THEN to sinusesI had Ulcerative Colitis then I had SIBO, then I had GERD, then I had asthma, and then sinusitis. It was like I was literally working up and out all the bad stuff (physically & emotionally)! I don’t like to label symptoms or my body, but I just wanted to show you how all these things arose while I worked on treating them naturally from every angle.

What’s even more interesting is that Jini experienced the reverse. She healed from top to bottom, so her lower colon area was the last thing for her to heal. These are two great examples for you to consider, knowing we have experienced it too!

Lean Into Your Body Wisdom

Along my healing journey, I readjusted protocols and treatments in response to the new symptoms I experienced, and I really leaned into my own body wisdom – all the while working on the emotional component of healing as well as physical!

And the funny this is, the same things happened as I addressed my emotional healing. As soon as I addressed one trauma, another popped up! Or I’d be addressing one emotion, and another would arise.

This can be exhausting, but it’s also so refreshing when you are free from that baggage – and that motivated me to continue. Jini’s Lazer Tapping was key for me to release my trauma as I continued to peel away at my “layers.” If you have gut issues, I highly encourage you to try Jini’s free session on Releasing Emotions in the Gut that are Causing Physical Illness.

I hope you’ve found this perspective helpful, and that sharing my experiences can help you continue on to a healthier version of you!
