I just finished listening to the entire broadcast. NOW I know why:
-my Crohn’s presented with constipation but with NO narrowing or scar tissue (when first diagnosed.)
-I had GERD when I was pregnant.
-inflammation and IBD/IBS is all on a spectrum.
I am still processing it all!
Dear Jini,
Thank you so much for introducing Absorb Plus to us. My name is Nazareth and I have, prostate cancer, diverticulitis & UC. I was diagnosed September 2015 for UC. After severe stress, I was hospitalized and almost lost my life due to severe bleeding, diarrhea, high fever, infection, lung pain and coughing. After in the hospital for 15 days, taking tons of antibiotics and meds, I developed DVT in both my legs. They put me on blood thinners, (Erixtra) as well as Pregnizone and Lialda.
I was readmitted to the hospital in March 2016 due to severe stress again with another flare up & stayed for 10 days. I was put on Pregnizone (Deltazone – 5g), Lialda, insulin (Humilin R 100), Emuran 40mg. The Pregnizone forces me to take insulin because it raises my blood sugar.
It’s been 17 days that I am now on the remission diet. 5 shakes per day with olive oil. Because I need to control my blood sugar, I cannot really drink anything more than 5 shakes. I drink 13 cups of water daily, Vitamin D (3000mg) daily, I’m using aloe vera (1/4 c) every morning & night, co-enzyme Q10 twice, slippery elm and marshmallow twice a day, & Emergen-C once per day. Your powder for infants- LifeStart) is taken every night– 1/4 tsp.
The other supplements I cannot use due to having to take blood thinners.
For 17 days, things have been fine ( BP, digestive pains, bleeding, diarrhea–all have been fine).
However, every since starting this diet, I have very very few bowel movements. There are days where I do not go to the bathroom, and when I do it’s very amount, (1-2 tbsp). It’s very dark brown, it has a little bit of body, (it’s not diarrhea). Because of this, these past three days, I’m drinking magnesium citrate (150mg) two times per day. Is what I am experiencing with such little bowel movements normal? I’m worried.
As of today, 5/4/2016, I have a fever of 99.5. I fear that I may have an infection.
My throat and head hurts and I feel like maybe I am starting to feel sick. Is this just a healing crisis or is this something that needs attention and care? Please let me know what can be done Jini.
P.S. I finish my blood thinners in 2 days.
Hi Nazareth,
First of all, we’re happy to hear that you were able to go 17 days without any issues! Some people tend toward constipation on an elemental diet and the magnesium citrate is one thing you can do to combat that. For more info about that, check out this link:

Regarding the fever and head/throat pain, we aren’t qualified to speculate so you may want to consult with your physician if you suspect that these symptoms might be serious.
Kind regards,
Justin
