We recently tested the pH level of the 32 oz bottle of Bone Matrix, and due to it’s higher concentration of minerals (most products contain far less minerals per bottle) the pH at its current concentration is 5.5
As you can see from the chart above, that may be a bit more acidic than you want to swish around your teeth – it’s more basic/alkaline than your skin, but more acidic than your saliva.
The easy fix for this is to add 1 serving of Bone Matrix to 1 ounce of water. This brings the pH up to 7 – which is alkaline. If you have a shot glass (1.5 oz) that is the easiest way to accomplish this. Or of course, you could add as much additional water as you like. I will often add Bone Matrix to my water bottle or travel mug.
Having said that, we heard back from one reader who was swishing it undiluted and the soft spots (pre-cavity) on her teeth hardened up. My husband has been swishing directly on his teeth for over a year and no tooth decay.
Here’s another pH scale of liquids and common foods so you can see where Bone Matrix (undiluted) lies on the chart – right between coffee and cow’s milk:
Interestingly, human breastmilk – which contains the mother’s microbiota – ranges between 7 – 7.4 pH. So again, listen to your gut! I personally dilute it in water or herbal tea because I find the taste a bit strong.
Hi, can Bone Matrix be used to remineralize filtered water (via a Reserve Osmosis system)?
And how much per liter of filtered water? Thank you!
I don’t know about adding Bone Matrix to a filtration system… but what you can do (and I have done repeatedly) is to add it to your filtered water in a glass water dispensing unit.
So you would basically figure out how much water you’re likely to drink in a day. Let’s say you drink 2 liters of water per day, then you would add your daily dose of Bone Matrix to every 2 liters of water. So if your dispenser holds 10 liters of water, then you would add 5 servings of Bone Matrix. Make sense?
OR dispense your RO water into your daily drinking container and add a dose of Bone Matrix to that. I prefer the countertop dispenser though, since my kids and hubby would also get their water from that. Does that answer your question?
Hi Jini,
I meant to say “adding Bone Matrix after filtering my water”, so that definitely answers my question.
My RO system has a plastic countertop dispenser (I believe BPA free).
I would have preferred glass; however the dispenser is used by the whole family, so easier to add Bone Matrix there.
On a slightly different note, would heating the water have an impact on Bone Matrix?
Or would it keep the exact same beneficial properties?
Thank you so much!
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out! I am Jini’s assistant. Jini is out of town, but I will defiantly pass on this message! 🙂
Hi there!
Jini got back to us on her thoughts. She said: ” Any of the QuikPlus minerals can be heated or added to hot liquids with no denaturing.”
