MucosaCalm: Soothing the Gut Lining and Supporting Mucosal Healing
I formulated MucosaCalm over 20 years ago, to support healing of the mucosal lining throughout the gastrointestinal tract. It provides excellent demulcent and mucilage activity for damaged tissue.
I originally developed this formula because I couldn’t find a formula with the ingredients I wanted and without irritating ingredients. For example, people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often react badly to common additives like Betaine HCL, which can trigger sporadic intestinal bleeding.

Healing Support for the Digestive Tract
In conditions like Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, and IBS, the glycosaminoglycan layer (also known as the mucosal lining) often becomes damaged.
The intestinal tract can develop:
- Ulcers
- Fissures
- Inflamed patches
- Fistulas
MucosaCalm was designed to help soothe and protect these areas, reduce severe inflammation, and restore a healthy mucosal lining.
What’s Inside MucosaCalm?
This product contains a blend of herbs and nutrients known to be gentle and effective. No artificial ingredients, preservatives, or common allergens have been used. It is:
- Certified gluten-free (less than 20 ppm)
- Free of wheat, yeast, soy, milk, lactose, and sugar
- Contains vegan N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG)
Key Ingredients
Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL)
Used to support adrenal gland function and reduce inflammation. The DGL form is safe for people with high blood pressure.
Slippery Elm & Marshmallow Root
Both are excellent demulcents. They form a mucilaginous coating that calms the mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines. Used traditionally for moderate inflammation and to protect the intestinal wall.
N‑Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG)
A natural amino sugar that helps repair the damaged glycosaminoglycan layer. Clinical studies have shown it to act as an immune system modulator with anti-tumor properties. NAG supports the mucosal membranes of the body and assists in rebuilding the intestinal cell life.
Each capsule contains 600 mg of NAG for potent support.
How to Take MucosaCalm
This product should always be taken on an empty stomach for best results.
For Inflammation
Capsules can be swallowed whole. Take 4–6 capsules at bedtime, on an empty stomach. This allows the product to work overnight while the digestive tract is at rest.
If you have Diarrhea
Capsules should be opened. The contents of the capsules are mixed into room-temperature or slightly warm non-acidic juice or water. Swallow immediately. Do not use capsules or tablets during active diarrhea, as transit time may prevent absorption – always open capsule and mix with water.
Doses can be divided throughout the day, but each must be taken on an empty stomach.
Combining With Aloe Vera Juice
George’s Aloe Vera Juice is found to work well with MucosaCalm. It contains no irritating laxatives and has a soothing effect on the gut lining. This combination can improve healthy absorption and enhance the calming effect.
Relief for Rectal and Anal Fissures
MucosaCalm has been used successfully when combined with FissureHeal suppositories to ease anal and rectal fissures, especially in people recovering from childbirth, radiation, or surgery.
One man, who had rectal cancer, described his experience like this:
“The worst part of the entire ordeal was the anal fissures. Every bowel movement was hell. My daughter gave me these suppositories and MucosaCalm. Oh my God—it completely changed my life.”
For those with severe symptoms, a DIY FissureHeal suppository kit is available. The kit includes all ingredients and a video tutorial. It can also be compounded by a pharmacist if needed.
A Gentle, Effective Approach
Healing the gut lining takes time. It also takes the right tools. MucosaCalm was created out of necessity and refined through real-world use. It offers targeted support for people with moderate symptoms, severe inflammation, and damage to the intestinal lining.
When combined with diet changes and proper gut care, it may become one of the best healers in your natural toolkit.
