Join me and Tami Hay as she interviews me for her Master’s thesis. Tami is in training as a Spiritual Nutrition Counselor, which gives her a totally different perspective on diet, the emotional aspects of food, and the various components of the healing journey. Tami’s questions come from her own journey of healing her Colitis-Crohns diagnosis, along with coaching many of her clients along their gut-healing journeys.
Let’s take a deep dive into some of the intricacies of long-term healing from serious gut dis-ease:
Hi Jini,
Is there any other practitioners you recommend for Crohn’s disease reversal besides Dr. Goldberg?
Hi Frank,

Hi Jini,
Are there are practitioners in Vancouver that you suggest? I’ve been following all your suggestions as I’m dealing with a bladder fistula. I thought the bowel rest was helping, but after 6 weeks of strictly liquids and another 3 of 80% liquids, I’m still struggling and having symptoms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Hello Felicia,
I’m sorry this happened. Some used The IBD Remission Diet exclusively for three months (the usual duration is 6 weeks) but the the goal is always remission so the transition back to normal food should start when symptoms have disappeared.
Dr. Paul Goldberg is a doctor who is very skilled at healing chronic ailments of all kinds (he is also a professor of functional gastroenterology), so I encourage you to check him out – over 50% of his clients are international, so you don’t need to live in Georgia to consult with him.
You can watch this video for a detailed description of how Dr. Goldberg works and what’s involved with his healing approach:

We wish you all the best on your healing journey and if you have any additional questions please let me know.

I am on day 6 of the IBD remission protocol and have been feeling great on the elemental shakes! I love being able to get my nutritional needs met without experiencing excruciating abdominal pain and inflammation. I’ve never had bleeding, ulcers or even bowel changes- my only symptoms have been pain, swelling, nausea and vomiting. But the pain is so severe, I am bedridden crying out in pain and not able to eat for 2-3 days at a time causing me to lose 10 lbs over a few days. This was happening every time I ate for the last two months which is why I’m doing something drastic like this protocol.
I’ve had this for 4 years with a cycle of 6 months good health and 6 months bad health (never medications with exception of prednisone 4 times during severe flare-up). Day 6 I decided to introduce raw milk in my shakes since I thought I had tolerated raw milk well in the past. After shake 3 with raw milk, I had mild abdominal pain and inflammation (only lasted a few hours). So now day 7 I’m back to just using water for the shakes- feeling well.
1) Did that mild inflammation interrupt my healing process meaning I need to start back at Day 1?
2) Does that mean I’m intolerant to raw milk? Or could it be reintroduced at a different time?
3) Lastly, does this mean my gut is more impaired than I thought? I intended on staying on the elemental diet for only 3 weeks since I was symptom free on day 4 feeling great (never had surgery, never had fistulas or ulcers or even recurrent diarrhea). Would you recommend staying on the shakes longer since I had an inflammatory response to the raw milk on day 6?
Thank you!
Chelsea Campbell
Hello Chelsea,
First of all, it’s great to hear that you’re no longer in pain, and that you’re feeling better!
Jini recommends to try to listen to your body and gut on how long it needs the elemental diet but give your body enough time to heal. You can’t heal 4 years of damage in 3 weeks. If you’ve been on strong drugs like prednisone your healing is going to take a while. Keep in mind that even people with no hidden disease symptoms, but simply an unbalanced hormonal system require 4 – 6 months just to re-balance their hormones. You can reintroduce raw cows milk or raw goats milk for sure and when you’re ready, start with small amounts, only 1/4 cup per day and gradually work up.
Please check Teleseminar Raw Milk Diet Therapy with Jim Ehmke, CN to learn how to use raw milk as a healing and detoxification tool.
Also check Jini’s Food Reintroduction chart (Ch. 5 of The IBD Remission Diet) to thoroughly test for your food allergies and in tolerances and how to gradually accustom your body to eating other normal foods again.
Kind Regards,
Cris

Thank you so much for your thorough response! I am considering everything you said and adjusting my plans. Jini outlines in her protocol 4-6 weeks on the elemental diet. Is that what you meant to type, instead of 4-6 months? I hope so lol
Please email me a list of EFT practioners for diverticulitis Thank you very much. Helen
Hi Helen,
Thanks for writing. Jini set up a webpage with more details on EFT, where to find EFT practitioners in your area and some free downloads. Link below:

I have had crohns for over 20 years with a blissful 6 year remission. The day I moved to a new house in a different water district it came back with a vengeance. It had always, per colonoscopy, been in the bottom 5% of my colon. This time 95%of my upper and lower intestine. I could not shower without getting boils on my skin, my skin bled, as well as the worst crohns ever. Finally had water tested, extremely high chlorine. Whole house water filtration $6000. Moved back where I came from 2 years later to find out water changed from chlorine filtration to chloramne. BAD STUFF HAS Amonia. Same issues. I have been hospitalized numerous times. Spent thousands on natural treatments. I am sad to say I am very allergic to oregano, even I kept trying it. Natural pure good stuff. Desperate! What is the next best line of defense you recommend? Please help. Can’t even take care of myself or drive anymore.
Olive leaf is the other potent anti-microbial – many people use that instead of wild oregano. And yes, we have always filtered both tap and bath water for just those reasons, but sounds like you have become sensitized to it as well and you’ll likely have to be vigilant about not being exposed in any form. Sorry your comment got missed before – not sure how that happened! But hope things are a bit better now.
HI Jini… a classmate Gav me the link to your website,,and I will be buying your book .next week… I believe I have UC no blood in my stools…But i seem no to be able to keep nothing down…I either vomit what i eat or thru Diarrhea…I am weak…and I am experiencing dramatic loss of weight. My stools is so watery
so much water that i ask myself where all this water is coming from…The Dr said That I have a small endocrine tumor that need to be removed thru surgery that they did that countless time…so is this sme type of UC…there is always that watery noise in my stomach like something is gathering water to be flushed out thru diarrhea..I have 3 huge watery diarhea very day…and it dehydrate me…I am going
back and forth to he ER…Is there anyway to stop the Diarrhea….and get my digestion going normal…
Hi George,
Thank you for contacting us. Going on Elemental Diet is probably the best thing that would help the most at this point because your body needs more nutrition due to increase loss of nutrients through loose bowel movements. Absorb Plus is pre-digested so it is absorbed into your bloodstream within 20 minutes of ingestion.
You also may want to try the bentonite clay/sprouted flax and chia powder combination as it should help to normalize the consistency of your stools.
If you tend to get attacks of cramping where you have to run for the toilet then a Colonic Massage will be a big help to you. You can give yourself this colonic massage while sitting on the toilet to help reduce frequent loose bowel movements:
Self-Administered Colonic Massage – Constipation, Diarrhea, Gas, Bloating
Make sure you are doing Jini’s Wild Oregano Oil Protocol at the same time, as your bowel issues may be caused by Candida overgrowth, or bad bacteria. Take Natren brand probiotics to clear out bad gut flora while repopulating with good gut flora.
Also, don’t take anything in capsule form (probiotics or supplements), as when you have very loose bowel movements the travel time through the gut is too fast for them to be properly absorbed and used. In that case, you need to take powder or liquid supplements, or open the capsules and dissolve them in liquid.
If you have any additional questions you can reply here or e-mail me at service@listentoyourgut.com.
Kind Regards,
Cris

I really don’t know where to begin, but I have been in remission from Crohn’s disease for over 25 years, and in the past year or so, this God awful disease has reared its ugly head and an extremely vengeful way. I am a bit overwhelmed, because I have told my traditional gastroenterologist that I’m not taking the Humira, and therefore I’m kind of on my own. Financially, I’m not able to afford another naturopathic doctor, as I’m hardly able to afford this absorb Plus. When I read everybody else’s messages, I’m overwhelmed at the financial investment to do the protocols that should result in healing, as I’ve started on the elemental shakes, but ran out of product, and 5 days late reordered more absorb Plus. I am looking for any advice you can give me, with regard to this whole scenario. I do not have a doctor on my team right now, even though I have shared with my family that I do. I just don’t want to instill fear in them with regard to my health and wellness. Over the past 25 years or so, prior to that, I’ve had over 12 inches of intestine removed due to Crohn’s blockage is. I do not desire to have any more of those surgeries, and I cannot handle the biologic drugs that are available now for this God awful disease. I am reading your book which is in digital form, but without specific time periods, and by just listening to my gut, I’m not necessarily confident and what I’m doing. I don’t know what I’m listening to my gut for pretty much. I can tell you after being on that absorb Plus for 5 days, my bowels have changed from Full liquid to nice soft solids. If that’s the kind of listening I’m supposed to be looking for, then I guess I might be headed in the right direction, but everything seems a bit obscure, with regard to the results, and when to transition from each so you know from Step 1 adding Step 2, and then when I can get off of the elemental shake, things like that. Can someone advise me with regard to changing each protocol at a specific time. Or at least have an approximate time.? Thank you in advance.
Hi Jini just want to say a huge, huge thank you for I’ve just found you and what a find you are. I’m 44 yr old single parent to two soulful children.I’m self employed landscape gardener and life is incredibly difficult at the best of times. Ive had UC for 12 yrs, 6 yrs on steriods and 6 years off. I’ve just got home after being in hospital critically ill with the worst flair up. So I return with Imflixmab infusions, predisone and mesalamine. An absolute nightmare but I couldn’t steer my boat and ended up far too ill. So briefly I have taken on your ideas, have bought the probiotics natren, vits and minerals, george’s juice. I can handle juices and have a nice baby diet going on. What I’d love you to settle in my mind is this Q Is it beneficial for me to do all the above when I am on the above western medicine or should I halt everything until I am off the drugs. In my mind that feels really difficult for me as I have been so self managing over the past 6 years. I juice,I’m a vegetarian, i have no wheat, sugar caffeine and barely drink alcohol. I don’t think I can mentally cope without downloading my body with good stuff. What I so don’t want to do is waste what precious money I have. Would you be able to take a few moments and give me the heads up. I’d really appreciate that as I’m here feeling quite islolated recovering from what has been an unexpected 6 wks. Thanking you again for coming into my life like a bright light. Bowing to your journey and feeling braver having listened to your podcasts and your words.
Hi Jessica – much love right back to you! The probiotics cannot colonize properly when you’re on Prednisone. So maybe save those for when you’ve weaned off. OR take them right before bed at night as they might have a protective effect… The vitamins and minerals are all good and George’s can still help.
Here are things that come to me from what you’ve written – see how any of this resonates with you…
1. There are 2 things that might be missing from your former/usual health regimen. Do you have a source of animal fats? Cheese, yoghurt, butter, ghee, fish oils, egg yolks? Those are crucial and take as much as you can, of whichever ones you tolerate. The second thing is a pathogen-killing protocol. IBD involves an overabundance of Candida, bad bacteria and/or mycobacterium (MAP). So using wild oregano oil or olive leaf (cycling on/off for 2-3 years) is crucial to eradicate the dormant/active lifecycle of MAP. Details are in my books.
2. I suspect a huge component of your dis-ease and recent flare is emotional/spiritual. There is no reason you cannot be completely healed and I suspect that root-level, long-term healing lies in the emotional/spiritual realm. Perhaps following your soul’s calling/yearning is going to involve a difficult lifestyle change for you? Or maybe you’re holding yourself back with parental guilt? Or perhaps you have blocks/saboteurs preventing you from outsourcing, delegating and growing your business so that it can provide you with enough income to REST and nurture yourself more? Or perhaps you have simply stopped listening to your inner guidance, thinking you don’t have time/space for that? But the body IS the subconscious – the densest part of the soul. It is ALWAYS advocating on your behalf. So this “flare” is your body saying STOP!! And delivering you a STRONG message… what is it? What needs to change in your life; physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually?
I invite you to dive deep into these aspects of healing. I have some EFT Tapping videos and teleseminars you can tap along to that would be very helpful. Videos are here:

Hi Malynda,
Thank you for reaching out. A good place to start if you want to learn more about healing your Diarrhea naturally is at Jini’s symptom section at the link below:
http://listentoyourgut.com/symptoms/16/diarrhea.html
If you’re having more than five bowel movements per day, use the following Reduce Diarrhea Diet (described in more detail in Chapter Three of Jini’s book Listen To Your Gut) until you are down to three or less bowel movements per day. Then switch to the Minimize Gas and Bloating Diet (also in Chapter Three) for as long as necessary. If your bowel movements increase after switching to the Minimize Gas and Bloating Diet, then switch back to this Reduce Diarrhea Diet for another three months.
We wish you all the best and please let me know if you have any additional questions regarding Jini’s products and protocols.

Hello Jini,
My son is 10 years old and the doctor’s think he has crohn’s. It was about November of 2017 when we first started to notice the weight loss and he developed erythema nodosum (EN) which is how we began this journey of crohn’s. He has high C reactive protein levels and shows signs of elevated inflammation in his body. He has low iron too. He has never had any of the diarrhea or bleeding that is usually present with the disease. However, he has had EN three times, about a 25 lb weight loss, and gut pain. We had him on Pentassa and that didn’t work as his still had the gut pain. The doctor told us about the SCD diet so we got the book. He also recommended for a period of about 6 weeks drinking only shakes daily and one meal per day to try to reduce the inflammation. So we purchased the Absorb Plus chocolate royale shake. Although the markers in his blood work have gone down slightly, the inflammation is still present even though we are only giving him SCD legal food and one or two shakes per day. He is able to have one or two bowel movements per day. He has an anal fissure that was bleeding and bothering him for a few weeks. Now it under control. Since his iron is low, we have had 3 iron IV drip treatments. He’s currently not on any prescription meds, just some herbs from Nature’s Sunshine company: coral calcium, yellow dock, magnesium complex, proactyzyme, antigas, colostrum, turmeric, and Natren’s Trinity probiotics. This disease is very frustrating and I can’t stand to see my son suffer each day as he seems to have gut pain just about every day. What do you suggest we can do to bring down the inflammation and get rid of the gut pain… REMISSION.
Thank you for your continued work in fighting IBDs!!
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and share your son’s story. I’m afraid that we cannot give you any guidance or advice about his specific health challenges. If you are looking for a new medical opinion, Dr. Paul Goldberg is familiar with Jini’s protocols and has clients with whom he conducts consultations via video call from all over the world. If you are interested, you can contact him at this URL: http://www.goldbergclinic.com/
Dr. Paul Goldberg shares methods and protocols with Jini and has read all of her books. He is very rigorous practitioner and like Jini, has healed themselves of a serious chronic illness, so he understands first hand what you’re going through. We can highly recommend him.
We wish your son all the best on his healing journey and if you have any additional questions about our products or Jini’s protocols, I would be happy to assist you.

Hi Sandra,
In addition to what Isabel said, Jini’s advice is to re-read chapter 5 of Listen to your Gut – the info about Symptoms as Messages. Also check Jini’s Emotional Roots of Dis-Ease and the Chronic Illness Family Dynamic post below:
