I just have to keep blogging about hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) because it’s just so darn great (and cheap)! Did you know that the first colostrum (from mother’s breastmilk) contains high amounts of hydrogen peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide has also been used in dozens of countries to preserve milk where there is no refrigeration. It has been used to swab down hospitals for decades, as it is such a broad-spectrum germ killer.
In a previous blog post, I told you how I used intravenous hydrogen peroxide to completely clear pneumonia from my lungs. And in this post I give you clear instructions on how to use hydrogen peroxide in a nebulizer to heal respiratory infection.
Lately, on Facebook, a reader asked what she could do for smelly vaginal discharge and I told her about the time when I was pregnant and my vaginal swab came back positive for bacterial infection (bacterial vaginosis). The doc wanted me to take an antibiotic. My naturopath told me to make a 6% hydrogen peroxide solution (food-grade), soak a sterile pad in it, stuff it up my vagina for 20 minutes once or twice per day. It worked a charm, no discomfort, much cheaper than wild oregano oil, and the next test came back negative – no more bad bacteria.
Another big benefit, it is safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding! If 6% feels too strong to you, then a 3% food-grade solution should work well.
To make a 6% solution of hydrogen peroxide, mix 11 ounces of distilled water with 2 ounces of 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide.
To make a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, mix 11 ounces of distilled water with 1 ounce of 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide.
I like to store my hydrogen peroxide dilutions in a glass jar, on the shelf (mason jars work really well). No need to refrigerate.
WARNING: Always be careful when handling 35% food grade, as it is powerful enough to ‘burn’ your skin off. And absolutely keep it away from children and other unsuspecting family members. If you spill some, wash the area immediately with water to dilute it. If you get it on your skin, rinse under running water. The skin will temporarily turn white, and in extreme cases peel off, but no permanent harm is done as the ‘burn’ will heal fairly quickly. If it’s in a plastic bottle, then direct the opening away from you when you open it, in case it spits some out from the pressure build-up.
Here are some other great uses for hydrogen peroxide:
Many people have found it beneficial to drink diluted amounts of hydrogen peroxide, as a whole-body cure, but it can be nauseating and cause stomach upset. And I especially don’t recommend this method of ingestion for people with gut issues. It is far better to absorb it through the skin, so you get the same benefits, but it bypasses the digestive system, so does not cause any irritation to the gut.
Hydrogen Peroxide Bath
Put 8 ounces of 35% food grade H2O2 in a tub of warm, chlorine-free water and soak for 25-30 minutes. Absorption through the skin is really high, but bypasses the digestive system.
Spray Hydrogen Peroxide On Skin
Or, you could spray your body after a shower with 3% hydrogen peroxide, avoiding the eyes and hair. Then walk around naked, letting it air dry and absorb fully into your skin. Another great way to get hydrogen peroxide into your body, yet bypass the digestive system, is to use a footbath.
Hydrogen Peroxide Footbath
5 cups of warm water
8 ounces (1 cup) of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (use food-grade to ensure purity)*
1 teaspoon of Epsom Salt
1 Foot tub (big enough to comfortably place your feet without crunching your toes).
Soak feet for 15 – 20 minutes. If redness or irritation occurs, the amount of peroxide used can be reduced. This foot soak is also used by diabetics to restore leg circulation.
For a germ-killing mouthwash, gargle with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and then rinse.
Use baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide to make a toothpaste for brushing your teeth. Place 1 tsp. of baking soda in a glass jar or small bowl, then add 3% hydrogen peroxide, drop by drop, until it mixes into a stiff paste. If you want a whitening effect, use 6% hydrogen peroxide – but use occasionally, not daily or it could cause tooth sensitivity,
To use as a douche, add 2 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a quart of distilled water.
To use as an enema, add 2 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a quart of distilled water. Ideally, follow 2 hours later with Jini’s Probiotic Retention Enema. Remember, we don’t want to kill off bacteria in the intestines without replacing them with good bacteria. Don’t leave a void – or you could be setting yourself up for opportunistic infection.
To remove pesticides, spray vegetables and fruits with a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and then rinse.
In the dishwasher, add 2 oz. of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the regular washing formula – does not need to be food-grade in this application.
For washing clothes or towels that may be smelling from bacterial growth, add 8 oz. of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the wash in place of bleach – does not need to be food-grade in this application.

To buy hydrogen peroxide in your country, simply type in: buy food-grade hydrogen peroxide to your Internet search engine (like Google).
how do you know if hydrogen peroxide is food grade and can it be used as a mouth spray mixed with water for copd
Hi Alfred,
We don’t carry it at the shoppe but you can find food-grade hydrogen peroxide at various retailers online (like Vitacost.com) or locally (like Walmart) and the products will be labeled as such.

My baby is 4 months old. I am nursing. Is it okay to nurse while drinking hydrogen peroxide
Hi Bridget,
I’m afraid we can’t advise you on that as we’re not qualified to do so. If you’re unsure, it’s always best to check with your doctor before proceeding.

I use it for a veggie wash to kill bacteria even on my organic veggies. However you cant buy large bottles of it. Only tiny bottles which last only for 3 or 4 sinkfuls.
Im in Australia.
Hi Teniel,
Thanks so much for taking the time to post. That’s a great tip!

Do you have dairy farmers in your area? Because they are required
To use food grade hydrogen peroxide and they get it in barrel full ‘so u should get it through them.
In 1999, I used hydrogen peroxide on slight acne in my chest area. It caused permanent white areas on my chest, which used to be silky, glowing, flawless skin. I read years later that it has been known to cause scarring, and finally realized the “bubbling” or burning effect when applying it caused the very minor acne “wound” edges to become WORSE, instead of better, which explains why the acne spots kept seeming to become larger, in 1999. I can’t believe the government doesn’t require prominent labeling to warn people of this. Please warn people.
Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for sharing your story. Proper dilution is critical when using hydrogen peroxide for the remedies Jini mentions in the blog post above. Caution should definitely be exercised when dealing with any substance like this and action should never be taken without research. I know it has been 15 years but, if you’re still dealing with it, you can find out more about home remedies for acne at Jini’s symptom page here:

Food-grade Hydrogen peroxide isn’t normally sold in pharmacies or even in places like Walmart. You will probably have to go to a health-food store.
When buying peroxide ensure it does NOT have “stabilizers” in it. These are usually heavy metals purposely put in to make you sick if you ingest it. The pharmaceutical companies really don’t want you using Hydrogen peroxide to cure your cancer or any other disease; they can’t make any money on it.
How do you make 12% H.P. out of 35% thanks.
Hi Sil,
To make a 12% solution of hydrogen peroxide, mix 11 ounces of distilled water with 4 ounces of 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide.
Kind regards,
Justin

H202 (food grade)was written about in “The One-Minute Cure” by Cavanaugh, taken internally in small to building doses. It stands to reason, if you have intestinal inflammation that H202 would be beneficial. A lady and her husband here used the treatment for a cancer cure and sent me the e-book.
I have been diagnosed 6 years ago with too much E coli and Kliebselia and have tried everything to get rid of them but the H202 has been recommended to me but I see you dont recommend it for killing gut bacteria !! Could it not be taken in very small doses?
thanks Susan
Hi Susan,
Jini does not recommend taking hydrogen peroxide internally. For bacterial infections, Jini recommends using wild oregano oil (a powerful, natural antibiotic) in conjunction with probiotics in order to eliminate the bad bacteria while repopulating the gut with good bacteria. This is her Wild Oregano Protocol and you can find more information at this link:

This has nothing to do with your blog post. My son have chron’s disease. He is getting better but why does he still have the diarrhea?
Hi Violet,
It’s great to hear that your son is getting better! We aren’t qualified to evaluate your son’s condition but it’s possible that he may have a food intolerance if there’s no blood in his stool. If he isn’t on an elemental diet, you can use one to give his bowels some rest and then use Jini’s food reintroduction chart to figure out what he can and cannot tolerate. As always, the best option is to consult your physician if you have concerns and need guidance.
Kind regards,
Justin

Hello, would it be possible for me to hydrogen peroxide enemas safely at home if I am pregnant. I am not late in the pregnancy, only about 8 weeks in…
Hi Rosalia,
Jini used peroxide while she was pregnant but did not do an enema. Theoretically it should be fine but, as always, it’s best to check with your doctor first if you’re unsure.

Hello. I’m in desperate need of some advise. I happened to spill hydrogen peroxide (3%) on my hands but washed it off and later I used a ACV solution (abt 2-3 tbsp in 700ml water) thinking to balance the ph level since i’ve been using ACV for skin treatment. I had some irritation on my skin and i used a lotion for that. it’s been almost 9 hours since that incident.
should i be worried? will it have any negative effects on my health?
how long does it take for the effect of the HP to wear off? how long does the oxidation last?
should i expect other adverse reaction until the 24h timeline?
please help
Hi Miya,
We do not have any knowledge or experience on the reactions to the skin of hydrogen peroxide and acv combined. However, researching it online it does mention it could cause a rash. From personal experience I love using coconut oil on skin rashes. We recommend contacting your doctor though if you are concerned with the reaction your skin is having. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.
Kind Regards,

I can wash my hands with even 35% HP, and nothing will happen. White spots that will disappear in 1-2 hours, plus itching. That’s all you. Big pharma doing a great job keeping everyone paranoid of a good stuff.
But is HP absorbed through skin? and if yes does 3% HP have any negative affect on health or cause skin problems?
Hi Miya,
We do not have the knowledge on if 3% Hydrogen Peroxide can affect the skin, only the strong formula of 35%. I personally have not had it bother my skin before, but everyone is different. If are you are still having problem we recommend to contact your doctor.

Hi. I read that HP can kill the cells in the tooth’s pulp and cause teeth to erode and lead to a dead tooth. Is this true?
Hi Sasha,
Thank you for your question. We are not experts in dental care, but can tell you that hydrogen peroxide used regularly can cause teeth sensitivity. So there is a chance it could cause your teeth to erode at all. However, we can not say for sure and would recommend contacting your dentist if you are concerned to try it. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.
Kind Regards,
Rachel

I have been soaking about 2 hours per night in a heated tub of about 80 gallons of water mixed with 1/3 cup of 27% H2O2. I have test strips which indicate usually 10-30 ppm. It has cleared up almost all of a long-term case of severe psoriasis. Wish I could give more complete details, but due to lots of life issues, I have been sporadic in my self-treatment. The trend, however, is decidedly up.
That said, please consider this: I began to have VERY bad problems with athletes foot or something like it when I had a 1 month hiatus. Now I’m back in gear, that seems to be going away. My conclusion is that I rid myself of lots of microbes (possibly internal as well as external) causing the psoriasis, but killed off some good ones protecting me from the fungus, or whatever. Look into probiotics for the skin before doing anything major.
Ten years ago, I infused myself intravenously with hydrogen peroxide according to recipe, and it did nothing for the skin, but did raise my blood pressure, supposedly because it burns the capillaries.
appreciate all taking time yo comment on personal experience. It helps the rest of us. I use Oxygen Essential Brushing Rinse. It has not erroded my teeth, but actually has improved knocking out tartar build up
Thank you for posting such good article. Keep posting and keep up the good work!
Does 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide when taken internally affect th blood pressure or heart?
Hi Sharon – 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide MUST be diluted. Always be careful when handling 35% food grade, as it is powerful enough to ‘burn’ your skin off.
The instructions Jini gave are all dilutions of the 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide, so please keep that in mind if you are using. Regarding your question, you will have to do some research on your end and decide the best route for yourself, as there are conflicting opinions. Best to you!
I’m trying so hard to find if nebulized hydrogen peroxide is okay to use during pregnancy. I’ve been looking high and low and can’t find anything. Of course when I asked my OB he looked at me like I was some crazy voodoo person.
Hi Shana! Unfortunately, we can’t comment on that – BUT, Jini recommends searching Mercola.com for further info…and listen to your gut!
